Indigestion or what??

it starts under my lady humps  and eventually works its way round to my back, it becomes that bad that I can stand or sit, I end up rolling around crying because of the pain.

It lasts a couple of hours then goes, so far I have taken renitidine (sp) from the doctor and a bottle of gaviscon but its getting worse.

OH MY GOODNESS!!

I thought I was going to die seriously, had it faintly all afternoon but after school it came on quite strong, I have been on all fours, over the table rocking back and fourth nearly called an ambulance, just managed to get the sofa and sat rocking back and fourth and it was like someone flicked a switch and it stopped

My back aches now from being so tense and tummy is a bit funny, what on earth is wrong with me? When I went to see the doctor about it before he said gallstones and if I get it again I have to have a scan, so I will go in the morning.

It sounds like a pain I had years ago - not long after I was in hosp with a throat infection - I was in total agony for a few days and it turned out to be IBS and the doc gave me some very powerful pills that apparently they dont use for this anymore - within about an hour of taking the first pill I developed the most outrageous wind and quite honestly I could have propelled myself from one end of the village where I lived to the other in seconds and I could have flushed out Usma Bin Laden from his hiding place with the PONG - it was really terrible I'm glad I didn't share my flat with right prudes as I couldn't get out of the room to the loo to pass wind - I don't know about silent but deadly - it was more Powerful & Deadly

Sorry to be so gross.

I do hope its just bad IBS and nothing to do with your liver - IBS is more easily sorted - I've had it since but never ever like that again - it had a lot to do with the fact that I hadn't eaten for a long time etc.

Take care of yourself and get yourself to the doc.

Exactly the same as me. Thats what I use to do, no one could touch me or talk to me, just concentrate on your breathing until the pain subsides.

They kept talling me it was my kidneys and kept putting of a scan, when i was pregnant the scanner found them then after a few years.

Over a few years I spent alot of time on hospital on morphine and got so bad int he end started getting pains in my chest.

Dont suffer, I know how painful it is, get to the doctors tomorrow and asked to be referred for a scan straight away.

Anything else you want to know Pm me

Hope you get is sorted out:)

I have IBS and I know how bad the pain can be from that when it flares up.
Have you been eating or drinking anything different, too much fizzy juice or coffee and if I eat pasta 2 days in a row I am rolling on the floor in pain I really have to watch what I eat
Best go and see doc and get checked out

It sounds like gallstones to me too. i had it a few years ago and i only had one stone but it was huge. The pain is when the stone is trying to move through a small tube (i think). Anyway i had gallbladder removed and been fine ever since. You will find that what you eat can trigger the pain. Anything high in fat like pizza (because of the cheese) of fried food will trigger it. Beg doctor for operation because it will never go away without it. Try eating a diet very low in fat and you will find the attacks less frequent.

I agree with the gallstones thing too.

I had this a few years ago. Sooo painful. I had to stick to a low fat diet 14g a day  and if I stuck to it I didn't get any pain but if I didn't I would end up in casualty begging for pain relief

It did make me lose 3 stone in 3 months though - pain is a great incentive :D

I had the op and put back on all the weight :panic:

I went to the doctors this morning and he has sent off for a scan for me should hear within 3-4 weeks, he only thinks its muscular  I also mentioned the heart problem and ended up having an ECG whilst there...oh how embarrasing  but he seemed to think it was just panic attacks

I've ended up in A&e twice with a pain- thought i was having a heart attack but the ECG was fine both times so on the second trip they suggested it was muscular. Mine starts between my shoulder blades and spreads round to the front under ribs both sides. Problem is i can take deep breaths without the pain getting worse so I really doubted the doctors but it was soooo painful:eek: the next time it happened i tried a wheat bag and the pain was less intense but still the worse pain i've ever had :(
Of course yours could still be gallstones- the scan will show them.

That is terrible that you still have to wait for scan you should have gone straight to A & E

05-02-2010, 07:52 PM
If the pain gets to bad again then i would go to A&E as they will most probably scan you which will save you waiting.

I had gallstones a few years ago and i have never felt pain like it in my life. I called the doctor out after the children had gone home and he thought i had pneumonia and gave me some pain killers and antisick tablets as i was being sick as well.
4am and i was still crying in pain and not knowing what to do so my DH called the doctor again he said gallstones and i was admitted to hospital where it was confirmed with a scan was on morphine for a few days
I lost alot of weight as was on a low fat diet but since i have had them out the weight has gone back on

Hope you get it sorted out soon

Sending hugs and hoping you get it sorted soon.
Like other postees,I've got gallstones {having op next month**
Sounds very much like pain I've experienced. The only thing that is even close is childbirth. They reckon that one in three people have gallstones, but most don't know they've got them 'til they call an ambulance in agonising pain.
Problem is that like alot of illnesses, you can't explain to people quite how bad it is. I have called an ambulance, begged for morphine and thought I was going to die.
Try not to worry too much, maybe cut out alot of saturated fat and don't...................................I repeat, don't take 'no' for an answer.
Even if it isn't your gallbladder, insist they get to the bottom of it.
I'm quite cross that they would just palm you off by saying it's a panic attack!
Us ladies usually know if something is wrong and being childminders we are a tough lot!
Let us know what happens.

No need to be sorry

the heart thingy I am not sure what that was all about but not had it since, the ECG was just to be on the safe side, but they lost theresults and I am not doing it again

The gallstone/pain problem has only been since I lost all the weight, I have never in all my life experianced pain like it (not had babies yet  ) at first I argued with the doctor that it was indigestion as my friend she has very bad indigestion and gets it in her back etc so put it down to that and the doctor said it was gallstones, when I went back to him last week he said it wasnt gallstones because I have no stomach pain/tenderness after the pain attack and then said it was muscular but would send me for a scan to confirm

I just want it sorted cos its too painful :(

Gosh Emma, why they making you sweat?
Just came on here to find out if you had results.
Had my op on Tuesday. Feel a little bit like I've been run over by a steamroller but sooooo glad it's out.
While I was in hospital, there were two other women admitted in the middle of the night. They were both crouched over with agonised looks on their faces. Pretty obviously gallstones. No pain like it. not even childbirth can come close to my experiences.
But on the pos side, I am feeling alot better and live to tell the tale!!!
Hope you get sorted soon.

ARGHHHHHHH I really dont want one :panic: far too scared!!

Told you so!!!!
Ooooh,you poor love.
I have been struggling with gallstones for months as they just kept sending me home with codeine.
I had my op booked for last Monday ,all minded children farmed out,you know the score!
They cancelled it at the last minute!!!!!!
I made up my mind that enough was enough as I was so scared and feeling very ill!!!
On Sunday night I ate some cheesy mash and 2 creme eggs and went to bed.
Bobs your uncle 2 hrs later I was on the floor, by the time the ambulance came I had nearly blacked out!
I had my op on Tuesday. I survived Emma and you will too.
Trust me Emma, I am the biggest baby ever and a really rubbish patient. If I can do it,then you can too!!!
Do not let them mess you around, DO NOT take no for an answer!!!
I am sitting typing this wanting to give you a big hug. I know that pain and I know your fear. Mine had been left for so long the gallbladder was in a bad way and I too had loads of stones.
Insist that they sort you out.
Sending you sooo much love and hugsxxxxx
Louise.

I'm scared of ops too Emma but I had mine out about 9/10 years ago.

They couldn't do the keyhole bit for me cos it was a bit complicated.

Have you researched the condition. I wasn't going to have the op until I read lots about it and decided for long term health it was far better to have the gallbladder removed.

I didnt have as many but they operated whilst my gallbladder was inflamed and they should not have done which caused a few complications. The surgeon told me off but i said how was i supposed to know it is inflamed if i had no pain for the 2 weeks previous.
I had a week off but should of taken 2-3 as i was in agony and had a couple of infections.

I am glad i have had them out as never want to have that pain again

ooh you poor thing i have just had mine out back to work after a week, 2 weeks on still a little tender but no pain killers needed... i really feel for you as mine only came on 2 weeks before i had mine out, first week i thougt it was chronic indigestion by the 2nd week i was in agony nothing would stop the pain at the weekend i got my dad to take me a&e and i was admitted that day, the surgeon was gonna dose me up and send me home but thankfully the staff nurse said there was no way she was gonna send me home coz the painkillers werent touching it and i couldnt sit up without throwing up, she talked to the consultant after my scan (1 huge gallstone) and he said ok we'll take it out,
the op got cancelled twice due to emergency ops 3rd time lucky i had the op by keyhole on the thurs afternoon home sat afternoon back work the following monday.....(to lose one lo as i hadn't given any notice to going in hosp...whaaaat it was an emergency duh i didnt know, got my 4 weeks notice tho)....
please go to a&e hun and dont put the op off i only had 2 weeks of pain and i was crying like a baby because of it so i really dont know how you others who have it reaccuring cope it really is pure agony as i told the surgeon when he asked '' on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is the pain?'' well actually dr there is no 1 to 10 the pain scale is 30 plus and yes i'd rather give birth 10x over..

My mum also had complications and ended up having 7 weeks off. She loved it though as it was summer and she got to watch Wimbledon, Olympics etc etc all without taking holiday time.

Hi Emma

Everything you describe sounds like classic gall bladder attack.

Often brought on by sudden weight loss.

Stick to a low fat diet and this will reduce attacks. Avoid caffeine and aspartame (sweetner in things like diet coke).

The pain is worse than labour. I had attacks weekly or more for 18 months! It was debilitating to say the least and I was in constant pain as a default status.

I had my gall bladder out in Novemeber and took 10 days off work, (I have 3 kids of my own). The surgery was easy peasy, in and out the same day very little pain and within a week I was completely out of pain, it was the best thing ever.

If you are offered the surgery I would grab it with both hands! Having gall bladder probs this young (I was 28 wehn mine started) means you will have to have the thing out eventually or you will end up with things being much worse.

If you notice orange wee, or jaundice, or dumping syndrome....instant diarrea the go straight back to doc as things are getting worse.

Hopefully if you maintain a healthy lifestyle you will avoid the attacks! I am having my fisrt indian take away tonight in nearly 2 years....I couldnt eat anything with fat in it all that time. Even bread brought on an attack with me.

Good luck, and dont worry have your kids gall bladder attacks are worse!

Hi Emma, hope you are feeling a little better today.
I would say that your symptoms are very likely to be associated with your gallbladder.
Until I had mine out, I'd been feeling really rubbish for the best part of a year{and still childminding!**
I put it down to other things, start of menopause, lifting babies, pushing buggies, upset tummy, you name it! I didn't even know what gallstones were, but when I was diagnosed it all made sense.
I'm now a month on and feeling sooooo much better..............and you will too.
Just before I had it out I just felt so ill, most of the time. Nausea, slight temp, all sorts of unexplained pains that I just couldn't put my finger on.
I promise you you will get through this Emma, I'm sending you hugs and will be thinking of you. But you absolutely must insist that the docs don't mess you around.
If I can do it {being the biggest baby in the world and a really terrible patient** I promise you can too.
xxx
