I'm seriously thinking that Im not ment to be a childminder and that maybe I should just call it a day.

I originally decided to register to help out a friend who then changed her mind on me and left me feeling really low- but I then realised that it was best not to mix business and friendship so I carried on.........................

I could not send off my ofsted stuff when I wanted to because there were no first aid courses at that point and you have to do your first aid within 6 weeks of sending off your form so I waited til 1st december sent off the forms and 2 weeks later ofsted rang and said the next available visit was not til Jan 5th.

I then had ofsted cancel on me 3 times due to weather one of which I waited around for 3hours before ringing ofsted to be told she had headed back home with out even ringing me.

So I had my pre reg visit yesterday- all went well so I decided to chill hoping nothing else could go wrong then today .......................

today I recieved a letter from health people saying they had wrote to my gp for more info on 4th jan if I did not want to view it could I call them. So I rang up and my gp had not heard from ofsted they looked all over for me. So I rang health people she apoligised it was an error they had wrote to my specialist. They have sent them reminders and had no response. She said they will give it til the 18th if they get no response then this will affect my application and I may be refused my registration.

So I rang up the hospital explained my situation they are going to look into it and call me back in the next few days

I feel so disheartened and all I want to do is give up

Sorry for the rant I just needed to get it out my system

I know just how you feel!: mad: I first looked into becoming a childminder in nov 08, I then completed all the training courses last summer, sent all paperwork into Ofsted in July but had to wait untill sept to take first aid course,I had my pre reg at the end of sept 09 and since then I have had nothing but setbacks! My landlord who initially said wouldn`t be a problem with me running a business from home have since decided that they need a letter from Ofsted to say that my house has been inspected and is safe for me to look after children in, still waiting for Ofsted to send that letter but hey its only been 7 weeks! Tracked my crb on line, its at stage 4 so gave them a ring, only to be told its on hold! because mrs Ofsted didn`t submit the information I gave her regarding the fact that my birth surname was different to the surname I have used all my life. Ofsted have still not received a letter from the crb company that was sent on the 17th dec, nor have they received 2 seperate references from the same person, one of which was sent back in oct and the other which was sent in dec! I have already filled my spaces and have to keep telling parents maybe next month which I feel makes me look very unproffesional and I have lost count of the times that I sat in tears thinking will I ever get there.
So dont think your alone hun and if you ever need a chat im here...
Fingers crossed that all will change and we will get there sometime soon

keep smiling thats what i did and believe me i had lots of problems trying to get registered, it eventually happened and i am glad it did as i have a lovely little girl on my books and heres hoping the new year will bring me some more.
it is worth it in the end and tbh if you can manage to get through these problems the rest will seem like a pushover just keep bugging everyone thats what i did in the end.
Good Luck hope it works out soon for you both

I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad time.

If you are set on childminding then hopefully it will all be worth the wait.

try to remind yourself of your reasons for starting on this path - they might help you focus for the next few months while the paperwork gets finished.

Hugs xx

Thank you

Naiomisian Im so sorry t hear your having a hard time to I hope things start to progress better for you. Your so lucky to have people waiting and I feelso bad for you having to let them down. I would keep ringing osted and chasing them, it cat hurt. Good luck with everything

Your totally right Sarah thats whats keeping me going the fact I have always wanted to work with kids and the fact I want to stay at home and lok after my baby.

I can honestly say today I was so close to giving up it just feels like its one kick after another right now.

I will try and hang on for now but not sure how much more disappointment I can take. Im a true believer in what will be will be and everything happens for a reason- I cant help but feel that someone is trying to tell me something but then again everything I have eer done in my life has been a struggle and I have got through it and came out the other end a stronger person.

Sarah your ebooks and this site has heped me so mch so far and Im very grateful.

Had a look at SEF today to try and take my mind of stuff and it terrified me

Thank you for your support

I meant to say my friend bought a fax machine in the end and 3 days after I spoke to Ofsted and gave them her fax number they faxed the form over and she filled it out and sent it straight back to them, so 1 down just crb and my landlord to go... x

think positivley, you're on the path to it all being sorted. Ofsted misteriously lost my health declaration form and one reference that was stapled to my application form!!!! aargh!
