HI,

I'm hoping someone can help me - i am in the process of filling out my application for the Scotth Care Commission but i'm stuck on the part were i have to write procedurees. I have attended the SCMA Induction course and found it very helpful but i'm unsure of what sort of layout i should have when writing my procedures. Is there a certain way these should be written?

Thanks in advance,

Kelly

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Scotland is very much like England... you need a set of written Policies and procedures which must be prepared before you start working.

These are to protect you, the children and the parents from possible misunderstandings in the future.

Parents should sign to say they have received, read and understood your policies and procedures.

Care Commission Officers should only look at core policies when inspecting childminders.

The core policies are the ones that are required for registration –

• Child Protection;
• Confidentiality;
• Complaints;
• Medication;
• Emergency Procedure;
• Fire & Safety Risk Assessment;
• Accident/Incident Records;
• Contact Details;
• Health & Safety;
• Whistleblowing.

If you need any more help with writing policies and procedures you can find information on the SCMA website or here -

I hope this helps :D
