I am wanting to get my charges right and I am worried I am asking too much.

Could you guys give me some ideas of your before and after school charges and the times the charges include, if meals are included or not? and very important...your AREA?

Thanks very much

I am in North London and had said £6 for maorning session...8am to 9am including breakfast and drop off. I had said £12.50 for 3pm to 5.30, includes pick up and drinks and snack. I planned to charge School Dinner price for an evening meal if they wanted one.

Am I too pricey?

in Herts ...

I charge by the hour regardless of sessions so currently

7:30 - 9:00 at 4.00 and hour is £6.00 which includes breakfast.

after school most of mine do 3:00 - 5:30 again at 4.00 per hour being £10.00

but you really need to look at your own area to compare, check out your local children and family information service online to get a better idea, other areas of Herts charge more.

I am in Wiltshire and I charge £5 before school from 7.45 - 8.45 and £7.50 including breakfast from 7.30.

After school (5 days) is £14.00 per day plus food at £2.50 per meal if required. If 5 days are not required then rates change and 2 days is £17 plus food

Hope that helps but you would be best to talk to your area.

I charge £35 per week for before and after school, inc snacks and breakfast, but I imagine fees would be more in London.

I charge £4.75 per hour (or part hour). Breakfast, drinks and snacks are free and an evening meal plus pud is £1.50.

I do 7.45 - 8.45 in the morning, and usually have 4 kids plus my own 3.

I pick up at 3pm and have up to 10 children per day (inc my 3) - some stay til 5pm and others til 6pm.

It has taken 2 years to build up my business and I'm now earning a very good wage from it.

I do not work Fridays & I don't charge in the school holidays - they are all term-time only contracts.

Hi mumx3,
I'm in Swindon, Wilts and my standard charge is £3.75 an hour, including all food, drinks etc. I always give the children a snack if time permits after school, always offer drinks in the morning.
I count 8.00 - school drop off as 'an hour', regardless of whether that is at 8.30 or 9am and I charge in half hour chunks, so a parent dropping off at 7.50 for the school run would be charged £3.75 + £1.88 (= £5.63) per child. After school is just the hourly rate, though I charge for a minimum of 6 hours a week. For random / one- off's I have in my fees poicy I can charge £6.00 per collection if this suits all parties better...
Hope this is more informative than confusing :)

best wishes,
Wendy

I have discussed this with other childminders now in my area and they are charging £5 per hour, I am going to keep my evening prices the same (£12.50 for the 3-5.30pm session) which does work out at £5 per hour, and review the £6 I wanted to charge from 8 to 9am and perhaps make it £5 per hour.#

Thanks for the advice and examples
