Thought i would let you know i have been trying to sort out our car insurance and i checked with motor minder and they were very competitive, low deposit too, we have saved about £60 which we could have saved more but this includes breakdown which was also due to be renewed so thats usually about £90

I checked a few years ago and the price they quoted was silly, so if like me you have tried before you might want to try again the next time you need renewed :)

I used Motorminder for a year and dh for two yrs and they drove me potty. their paperwork is a nightmare.

Check your statement of fact is correct it is what you Insurance contract is based on and you have to sign to confirm it is correct. They always assured me they had corrected it over the phone, wouldn't sent a corrected copy of the Statement of Fact for us to check, but when my renewal came through it was all wrong.

Also check what level of hire car you are covered for. I had to pay an extra £45 to ensure I got a car of a similar size to my Skoda Octavia which isn't even a 7 seater!

Dh has just renewd his insurance. When his renewal documents came through I was down as a named driver which was correct, but as an EMPLOYED! childminder and covered for Social, Domestic and Pleasure use, not business. This is from so called specialists! Churchill got it all right first time.

They had also got his mileage wrong, despite assuring us they had corrected last year, the value of his car and his mileage bore no relationship to what he had told them. Now he is waiting for proof of noclaims to be sent so he can send it to his new insurer. Yes you guessed it, no proof of no claims after 10 days so more phone calls.

They also still try to tell you that you need a higher level of business cover than you need.

Churchill was £120 cheaper than Motorminder for me when I renewed this year, dh was a bit cheaper with Churchill as well and got free Green Flag recovery.

I rang motorminder and their quote was horrendous!!!!

Nearly three times more than what we are paying now....and yet I know another cm who claims they are the cheapest!!!

I was with Motorminder last year until someone smashed into my car whish was parked outside the house.

Their claim dept was horrific, didnt get a like for like replacement courtesy car when it went in for repair like promised and still im fighting with them to get my excess back as it was being claimed from the other person.

Wouldnt use them again :panic:

I'm with Churchill, was with them before I strayed to Motor minder for a year. Never paid extra for the business cover, nor have I ever paid extra to Churchill for contents insurance and I have been with them for years.

I was with churchill for 6 years but this year put my premium up by £195, someone went into us a few years ago and they were a nightmare too, we had an estate and got a nissan micra as a courtesy car , tried to take our no claims away so had to fight for them, i think they are all as bad as each other, i suppose only time will tell :)

I searched everywhere this year as dh usually just renews but i was so annoyed with that amount of increase that i looked at as many as i could :)

Fingers crossed its all ok :)

I just had a quote from Motorminder - ridiculous. Nearly £700! But what really annoyed me was the sales approach, telling me that she wouldn't send her children to a childminder without this cover, how can I not insure with them a childminder specific policy, how can I put other peoples children, let alone me own at risk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who on earth does she think she is questioning 1) my ability and approach as a parent and 2) my business :panic:

Unbelieveable!

This is something I complained to NCMA about very strongly a few years ago.

Do you have the girls name? I would ask to speak to one of the directors at NCMA and report them they have no right to behave and threaten in this manner. There are many insurance companies who insure childminders. Motorminder are only an insurance broker as well so they should be finding you the best deal in the market.

I insured with them for a year because I got a good quote but it was a nightmare they treated me very poorly, I wouldn't touch them now even if they were cheaper.

I was with motor minder for about 4 years. When bought 2nd car it came with 7 days ins with Aviva. Since then aviva have been lower. Hubby had company car for a year and now gone back to having own second car. Arranging ins for both cars blue fin wanted 700 for my safira and yet I have got a multi car policy inc breakdown and extras with Aviva both cars 790 on one policy. Best bit the underwriters for motor minder is guess " Aviva"
