One of my little mindees goes to nursery so I asked if I could see their observations for her and they happily showed me. They had a printed book to complete that had certain stages that children should be at at different ages and they just wrote short observations next to each stage. This seemed so easy and I wondered does anyone know if we as childminders could get hold of these kind of record books. Life would be so much easier if we could.

Sounds like tracker books...

From what I've heard, Ofsted are not overly keen on them as they are a little too much like tick lists ... you know seeing what a child has done, jotting it down and moving on.

However they can be useful as a guide and if you do observations, photos and individual planning alongside them they do have a use.

You get them from QED :D
