Hi
Has anyone heard of Ofsted sending a form out to your own childrens HV? At no point in time have I heard of this nor been asked to provide any info but had a call out of the blue asking for HV's details. It's not a problem and I gave them all the info but I was quite suprised to be honest. Has anyone else had to do this. I'm at a loss as to what they would need this info for.
Thanks

Years ago (pre Ofsted) your HV used to be asked to give you a reference. I don't think they normally do now, can I ask did you declare having post natal depression on you health form? this is the only thing I can think of that might require them to find out more history. Just a thought

Thanks for your reply. No I have not got any history of PND or anything at all really apart from the usual coughs / colds etc. I was thinking, my daughter was very ill when she was born, she has a few health issues and has had an operation. Could it be about her? But then how would Ofsted even know about any of that? Maybe I mentioned it at my Pre-reg, I can't remember.

Did you get any help from SS when she was ill? Because they do a check on your children as well as you through SS.

I agree I would have asked why they needed the info before I gave it out.

Hi
To be honest when they called me on Monday I was quite ill with a horrible bug and not really thinking straight but yesterday when I was feeling better I did start to get a bit annoyed about it. I agree with what you've said, what business is any of it to them. FizzysFriends, in answer to your question no SS weren't involved although loads and loads of specialists were and still are but she is making excellent progress and everyone is happy with her. Even her paediatrician was so happy last time she saw her that she said she didn't even need to see her anymore, although I said I would be happier if she did so she agreed to see her again in 1yrs time.
Maybe I will ring Ofsted today and ask them why they need this info although seeing as I can never get a straight answer from them about anything I'm not holding out any hope of getting an answer
This has been going on for so long now that I have now lost the parent that wanted me to have her 2 children, she has to go back to work in the next 10 days :(

I would be calling Ofsted and asking for written confirmation (by email) as to why they want to contact your HV.

Never heard of it myself and I don't think its right. Your daughters health is nothing to do with them and they CANNOT go into information about your daughter without your permission. It would also be unnecessary.

Good luck with your phone call, keep us posted

OK, well I called them and the gentleman I spoke to was very nice and tried his best to help. He spoke to the Applications Dept who told him it was the inspector who has asked for the HV details. He tried to contact her but couldn't get hold of her so has left a msg for her to call me back, I am not holding my breath. HOWEVER, when the post came this morning there was a Health Declaration from for my other half  . What the heck do they need that for??? He doesn't have to send it to his DR's just fill out his bit. WHY do they need a health declaration form from him??? He is out at work all day and NOTHING to do with my childminding. I asked him to contact ATOS, the people who deal with the HD forms and they have said Ofsted have raised a concern?? What does this mean???? My job has no bearing on him at all. AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHH I am really close to losing my patience with all this, I just want some answers
Will keep you updated
