How much to charge for babysitting?

For those who also provide a babysitting service, how much do you charge?

I've said yes to 6.30pm until midnight this evening for a 6m old baby and a nearly 3yo. She didn't ask what I charge, which is a good job as I haven't done a babysitting job yet!

My hourly minding rate is £3.25 (and £5.25 for unsociable hours) if that helps.

My hourly rate for cm is £4. My daughter babysits and her hourly rate is £5
I live in the north so don't know how much babysitters in your area charge.

Thanks :) I've never used a baby sitter before so no idea what the going rate is around here. My friend, who does jobs for sitters, says they'd pay £5.75 p/h through them so I'll go with my unsociable hours rate I think.

I'd go £6 p/h which is cheaper than sitters because they pay subscriptions.

I'd go for £6hr too - nothing less!

I used to work for an agency 2 years ago in a wealthy area and charged £7hr.

We use a teenager and pay him about £5hr, so you are def worth more!!

My 14 year old gets £5 per hour I charge £8 in someones house and £15 in the local hotels

i charge £6 for parents but the family i used to nanny for give me £10 per hour - i always make sure i'm free when she rings me to babysit!! :laughing:

Well I'm back now and I charged £6 p/h in the end and got a tip on top :)

I hope I get repeat business from them as that was the easiest job in the world - both kids were fast asleep by the time I got there and didn't hear a peep out of them the whole time. It was like having a holiday :laughing:
