I saw these today;

Experimant 1: Split the stem of a pale carnation flower, fill two identical containers with water and put a few drops of food dye in each container (different colour in each container). Place the carnation flower, so that each side of the stem is in a different container. As the flower sucks up the water, the petals change colour. So you end up with one flower head made up of two different colours.

Experiment 2: Place some wire wool into a small jam jar, pour in about an inch of white wine vinegar. Screw the lid on and leave for 10mins. When you go back to it, the jar is hot. The acid in the vinegar reacts with the wire wool and heats up.This is a good one for the winter.

Experiment 3: Thread a straw onto a long length of fishing wire, and secure to the wall at each end of the room (from one end of the room to the other). Blow up a long balloon and secure the end with a peg. Stick the balloon to the straw with tape and pull the balloon to one end of the wire. Take the peg off and watch the balloon zoom along the wire.

Something to do on a rainy day :thumbsup:

Thanks. Never done the second one and not the others for ages.

Will hunt out balloons for the morning in case it rains, if it's sunny we can do it in the garden :thumbsup:
