I live in London. And just wondered what was the going rate here.
I have heard its different all over the country.

Also.when you just have a mindee from 7 in the morninf till school starts.and then after school untill 6pm do you just charge for the hours he /she is with you.or do you charge for the whole day.

sorry for all the questions tonight...just my mind is buzzing with thoughts

The rates vary from area to area so it would be hard for anyone other than someone who lives in your area to give guidence on how much the hourly rate would be.

Why not check on your local CIS site and see if any of the other minders in the area are advertising their hourly rates.....hopefully you will get a few ideas from there.

A majority of childminders do not charge for when a child is in school full time....they would only charge for before and after school

I've heard they charge about £7 or £8 p/h in London - you must check on the CIS site.

A friend lives in Aldershot and says she can't get a good minder for less than £6 p/h there.

I am not that far from Aldershot.

The going rate around here is £5.00 - £6.50 per hour!

What part of london do you live in?

I live in the clapham area, which has some affluent catchment areas. My full time weekly rate is £225 which works out to £4.50 ph. However, this represents the best value for money meaning my part time hourly rate is more epensive, my bank holiday rate is more expensive ect, ect.

Find out what is charged in your area and what the rates include. If you offer extras, have expertise, then your rates should reflect all of this.

Remember, you have to live too, dont sell yourself shot!

I live in Welwyn in Hertfordshire, and have recently started. The rates vary around here from about 3.50 to 5.50 an hour. As I am starting out thought I would go in the middle at 4.50 per hour. I think it depends whereabouts in London you are, and what people are willing to pay etc. The children information service web site is a good place to look, or call up a free childminders and ask what they charge.

Hope this helps.
