Im confused, Im registered for 3 children under 8 years of which no more than 2 may be in the early years group.

So my question is where does a 4yr old at school come under?

Am I being thick? Havnt grasped it yet

If your 4 year old is in full-time school then he counts as in your 5 to 8 years age group

A 4 year old attending Reception year full time falls into the 5-8 age bracket.

Once the four year old is at full time school they count as an over five year old in your numbers. For example I have a lo who who started in Reception in Sept 2008 but won't be 5 until Aug 2009, as soon as he was at school full time he counted in my over fives.

Hope that clarifies things.

well spoke 2 parent an it is for a 4 yr old starting school in sept just for collection hrs wud b 3.30pm - 5.30pm plus school holidays. With a possiblity of mindin his younger siblin sept 2010, told her that I wud probably be ok to do that but wud have to apply for a variation from Ofsted.

She said she wud contact me in a few weeks to cum an meet me. I told her that as I am a new childminder I may get other enquiries but I wud contact her 2 c if she still wanted the place.

Wud u have done the same or have i just shot myself in the foot. :panic: :panic:

Don't forget you need to tell Ofsted you will have a four year old in full time school as you need a new certificate

If you have a child of 4 at full time school and are classing them as 5-8 you need to ask Ofsted for a variation and up your numbers by 1 as they are still within the EYFS register.
