the 2rold (0months) drew circles today with thin chalks and then drew one on top of the other to make a snowman, recorded this as an observation as though it was pretty good for his age but am now stuck as to what to do for a 'next step'. should it be somthing like mark making in playdough, or painting or should it be somthing else.
would appriciate some help and ideas please.

you can encourage mark making with a variety of things - different size chalks, pencils, pens, paintbrushes etc.... how about using squeezy bottles with water in (outside activity of course), shaving foam on a table and using fingers, finger painting.....

The sequence of marks that nurserys are encourage are

- / = x 0 and the zigzag

How about having mindees name written somewhere so she can start to see the letter formations.

oh never thought of his name, thanks for that and thanks for the quick reply too!!
so i guess i could put the next step to be mark making with paint brushs, then go on to the next step being making the marks you stated and his name?
one at a time of course when he's finished one step

Add in some house painting brushes and rollers too especially important for boys to make those large arm movements:)
