I love it that something so simple became so much fun and such a learning opportunity.

On Friday, I chucked a load of left-over Xmas clementines into the messy trays and the children spent nearly 2 hours peeling, tasting, squidging and smelling them! They also enjoyed squeezing the juice into cups and drinking it. :D The adults would intervene only to ask open ended questions such as 'what does it smell like?' or 'I wonder what would happen if you squeezed it over this cup?' but mostly we just sat back and let them explore. In the midst of all that chaos, it would seem they have gleaned that clementines grow on trees (they still had stems and leaves attached) in warm places, that they are a special type of orange, that they are filled with Vitamin C and good for protecting you from colds and that you can make orange juice by squeezing them.

Like you say Tatia, something so simple and yet they have learned so much. I think I always try to over complicate things!
