Hi all

I note that you all have a daily diary which I want to use when I get some kiddies but is this seperate to the learning journal? I guess with the diary it will be what the child ate, sleeps, drinks etc is that correct?

The learning journal will be evidence of what child has made, completed, achieved etc?

:panic:

Yes.
I use a A5 book for each child as a diary. x

Sounds right to me - I use an a4 sheet for the diary (two days to each side)

I use an A5 pad that goes home with the parents every night, so if there are any comments or info that I need it all gets written down.

For example one of my mums tells me out of the mountain of food that she sends her child with when he's meant to have it :)

I have been and bought some of those excercise books we used to use at school - You know the ones we all wrapped in wallpaper and you could tell who had the worst taste by the state of the wallpaper

I will just write in when they have slept, eaten and what and when their nappy was changed (if they use them) and what activities we will have done on that day. the parents will also take it home so they can read at their own leisure and fill in anything i should need to know i.e bad sleep or anything that has happened at home.

I have just bought for 2009 some a5 size diaries, and fill these in, before it was just a book.

List what they have done, nappy changes, sleep, snack, meals.

I have to say of the parents I have, two read it and one doesnt, she thinks it takes away the idea of "homebased" childcare where people communicate!!
