I ventured into the Indian clothing shop today to look for some outfits for the children to wear for the divali celebrations tomorrow. I felt really uncomfortable to start off with as all the staff were staring, but as soon as i explained what i was doing and what i needed they were falling over to help! I have two beautiful outfits for the boys and then they gave me a pile of bangles as a present to go with the little girls sari i bought!
Then i went into the charity shop next door and bought 3 wrap round sari's for £1 each!:clapping: We are all going to look fab tomorrow!

I've always found the shopkeepers in Manchester clothing shops really helpful as well.

Sounds like you'll have fun tomorrow! :D

Did you have the children with you? Would have been great to record it for positive relationships/the wider community etc.

Fantastic!! You don't HAVE to have photos of everything, I often write things up for the children's files that don't have photos. Anything that can be linked is great: little anecdotes, stories, funny happenings - just goes to show that you are learning about the children and can see where it fits into their development.

Depending on how you are keeping information for EYFS I'd write it up with details of how you went to the shop, talked about the Saris, how the staff reacted etc. link it to the 6 learning goals. Then use the photos of the children in the Saris later. :)

We were just talking about the fact we had took no photos on our outing today!!

We had a great day out and bought a lovely boys 3 peice outfit for £10 and got a few sets of bangles, im still sitting in my sari and i must admit they are so comfortable (dont have to worry about my bum hanging out when i bend down  ), the kids looked fab and we found some indian music on sky radio this afternoon and the kids and myself thoroughly enjoyed dancing to it :)

Off to write out some bits :)

Try second hand shops in more Asian populated areas. There were some full adult sari's in a shop yesterday for £4! And my wrap around ones were £1!
