Brilliant! I'm going to make this my November bulletin board with photos of children from diffeent cultures and the word for 'hello' above or below it. Then you can do handprints of the children and wrote different ways of saying hello on them.

There's also an official poster but I can't fnd the link anywhere to purchase one. I'll keep looking.

I like this day! :D

It's fun learning the languages... and saying hello to friends at school.

Here's a fab poster -

What day in November is this??

I have a lovely puzzle that you lift up the children and then underneath is Hello in 12 languages. Each child's dress reflects their national dress. Got it online, never seen it anywhere else but it's lovely.:clapping:

A great site. I just spent forever copying and pasting the tables to make a display with.

Here's a copy of the hello tables I did. I'm going to laminate them, cut them up and put them on display board with photos of multi-cultural children I've gleaned from Internet. If anyone wants the full doc with photos, PM me your e-mail address.

And here's the title bit. It's not great but at least I managed to get the text to write over the image and not around it so I feel pretty clever at the moment. It needs trimmed to make it look neater though.

Dia Dhuit (dee ah gwit) - Irish - translation = God be with you.
Reply Dia is Muire Dhuit = God and Mary be with you.

Basically its a blessing and if I say God and Mary and a saint be with you then you do one better and say God and Mary and 2 saints be with me and so it goes - but the first 2 as set out above are OK - but when we were kids we used to try to trip people up by wishing them loads and loads of saint be with them and try to catch them out in the hope they would leave one out or forget to add one on in their reply. - A bit like the game - Today I went to the shop and bought....... - The Scotish Gaelic hello is different - I found it on the internet last year when celebrating Burns Night - Will get back to you on that.

world hello day sounds like great fun! Suppose you could expand on it and make different foods from other countries and dress up in multi-cultural costumes too!!
