Hello there,

I am currently looking into becoming a childminder and was hoping you would be able to tell me if childminding specifically needs to be done from my home, or can it be done from a building (like a community centre, church etc)

Look forward to your response

a childminder is defined as someone who works from home.

The best place to go for more advice is Ofsted -

I think you would be classed as a creche or playgroup if you didn't work from home.

Or a nursery or childcare setting? All the paperwork I have read has said that its in your own home or another childminders home.

could a childminder mind the children at their own home though? For example a parent has 5 children and instead of them coming to me the parent would perfer me to mind the childen at their own home, would that be okay?

No then you would be be providing home based childcare... you would be a nanny :D
