We practised a drill today (again!!) and it was absolutely spot on.
I gave the children no warnings about it - my son J age 3 and E age 2.
They stopped eating (rotten aren't I - I had pretended I had to go to the toilet) and went and stood at the front door holding hands - very calmly and waited for me to come back down the stairs. I grabbed my attendance sheet and out we went (minus shoes and coats) and stood in my neighbours front garden.
I called their name and they said here and waited while I ticked. Bless their hearts.
They got masses of praise and a sticker and I am so proud fo them
