I'm just starting to do my accounts and was wondering how you work out your heating and lighting expenses? Do you just calculate your allowed percentage from your energy bills even though this includes energy you've used for things other than heating and lighting?

Also I've spent £100 on advertising, can I claim this on expenses?

The Tax lady we had said they were happy for some items over £20 to go through with out receipts as they understand that sometimes it is not possible to get receipts, she said in this case just write a little note stating where you purchased the item etc.

Hope that helps.
