Hi i am a pre-reg childminder looking into items i will need to get my business rolling soon after ICP has finished, i see there are 2 different insurance companies i could go with, does anyone have any advice on either..... ie, which they find best, benefits for the 2 different ones? are they both basically offering the same deal? Thanks in advance Emma x

I always used NCMA when I minded before. Cannot comment on MM. although people on here say they are good.

Do you get a grant in your area? you may find you get a year included in there free.

I am with NCMA but voted MM i have used both but don't see the benifits in paying a lot more for NCMA

I prefer MM's contracts as well so think i will go back with MM in December

Don't know about the legal side never had to phone either up about anything

I have had both. I was with NCMA when I started as their paperwork is a good guide and very helpful but due to price I changed to MM.

However, MM do not cover children over 8 playing outside when I am not with them (out the front in the cul de sac) and I was also having to keep my 13 year olds in too. NCMA then said I could do this so I changed

I'm with MM and you don't have to use their paperwork, I print my own. Once made up you just print as many as you need. With NCMA you have to purchase their expense paperwork.

I use NCMA, I had it free for the first year in my start-up pack and just stuck with them this year out of ease and laziness! Ha ha!

I can't comment on MM as I've never used them but I know quite a few people who are impressed with them as an insurance company.

But I choose NCMA because it is an organization that lobbies on behalf of childminders and is actively working to increase the profile of childminding.

I'm NCMA not had to use there legal side, but do find the paperwork to be very good.

I know its expensive, but it does all go through your books :)

I am currently trying to decide whether to renew my NCMA membership... they are more expensive but this does go through your books.... I have gathered MM have better legal cover though? (from a thread a couple of weeks ago)..?

I have always been with the NCMA (since 2003) but have decided to go with MM from December when I have to renew.

I am with mm was with ncma for few yrs but felt they were 2 expensive and didnt like the idea that I had to use their paperwork. MM also do great car insurance was cheapest quote I got and have the peace of mind that it is correct.

I am like Tatia and with the NCMA and for the same reasons. I did look into the difference but found that for me as I wanted to be an NCMA member it worked out cheaper as what makes the NCMA dearer is the membership (hope that makes sense)
