hamster bedding/sawdust etc

morning everyone hope you are all well have a question am wanting some new ideas for things to use in a cat litter type tray we have got some new mini zoo animals and i was thinking of using hamster bedding or sawdust. what do you think with regards to hygiene? yes or no can we use it

I've filled the sand tray with saudust before then drizzled some kids glue in, you can them mould and shap the sawdust, they loved it :D

what about some cheep gravel? for fish tanks or something?? you can get them in a ray of different colours

We use a lot of shredded paper... they love hunting through and no paper cuts yet :D
