I have got all my policies sorted apart from one that apparently you need to have. Its called PHOTO AND FILM policy and you need it aswell as the photo permission form. I have looked on the net but can't find any reference or anything to guide me on what to write in the policy. Does anyone have any idea?

I don't have one - who says it's necessary?

Another childminder had a recent visit from a early years co-ordinator and said it was neccessary.

Well... 2 things spring to mind.

1. From Sept policies and procedures are no longer compulsory (though they remain very very very good practice)

2. Early years coordinators give advice - not musts... Ofsted give musts and there is nothing in the eyfs about photo and film policies.

I have a bit in my observation policy stating that all photos / recordings of the children remain the property of their parents and I say what how voice / filmed recordings are deleted when they serve no more purpose. I also state that photos are used for children's files and are displayed around the setting to give children a sense of belonging. If I want to use photos for courses evidence etc I ask parents to give separate permission.

Hope this helps :D

Gosh, I spent so much time writing and typing them out... they will go with me to my grave! I would never get rid of them even if OFSTED insisted they were a fire hazard! haha

Policies are compulsory but not written ones and certainly not all the ones we seem to be asked for. Only the ones in the EYFS and standards are required.

If you are confident of your policies and can verbally reiterate them to the Ofsted Inspector then this is acceptable but could you??

Thats why we all write them down.
