Even if you didn't get to watch the final, I would guess it would be pretty hard to avoid all mention of who won!

What did you think of it?

Laura seemed pretty much out of her depth, as she has done all the way through the competition. I'm sure most of her bakes have tasted amazing but looked awful!

I did like David although a lot of my friends have said they thought he was cocky and over confident. I didn't see that in him and thought he was quite likeable.

Peter was sweet and a worthy winner. He had been good all the way through and you could see how much it meant to him to win.

I was a bit disappointed with the showstoppers. They didn't look as impressive as some of them have done in previous weeks. I did like the walnut whirls though. I didn't even know you could make those

Yes poor Laura did struggle again, I agree with you Mouse that the showstoppers were not that grand for the final. Glad Peter won as he has been such a fan of Bake off and the program inspired him to bake from an early age.

Me and my friend were saying if the showstopper was laid out normally not stacked on each other Laura would have won because hers tasted the nicest. I have never thought of stacking pies, choux buns, brownies on top of a cake

Walnut whirls like the tea cakes and wagon wheels are best left to the supermarket especially in 30 degrees heat.

I genuinely don't know how they separated them last night. I think its better now they are not automatically given a book contract.

Though it was lovely the dedication to luis at the end - so sad he was one of my favourite bakers

I was never that struck on Laura and was always surprised she stayed in!

To be honest, I wasn't that inspired by any of the baking I saw last night! I feel as if they've run out of 'normal' baking now!

Do you remember the first series where it was scones. Inthink it lost its home baking abit.

Though I would love to see all the finalists back in a champion of champions bake off. It would be good to see Ruth Jo Ed Holly Nancy etc but then you wouldn't have Luis.

I think I must be hormonal because I was really crying at the end!

Peter was such a lovely guy and yes, with his dedication to the show it must have meant the world to him to win. I love the photos of them all at the end seeing what they have been up to since leaving the show - and to end on Dave's baby - oh my! It was lovely how they thanked the whole team who had made it happen in silly old 2020, and then the dedication to Luis...
