It’s another grim day today. I lay in bed this morning listening to the rain and wasn’t in any rush to get up!
My first job of the day has been to pay my tax bill. That always hurts a bit! I know I could have left it until the end of January but I had a reminder through about paying it so decided I would. DH always thinks I should leave it till the very last minute to pay it, but I worry I’ll forget and get a fine.
My next job is going to be to order some gift vouchers for my parents and sister for Christmas. I normally try to find an independent restaurant near them that does vouchers but I’m not so sure this year with them all being closed. Sadly there’s no guarantee they’ll all open up again and I don’t want them left with vouchers they can’t use. This year I might have to get vouchers for one of the bigger chains instead.
My final job for the morning will be to order the Christmas food from M&S. I’d been putting off doing it as I don’t know how many will be here on Christmas Day, or how many will be allowed to be here. I really don’t think we’ll know until nearer the time though so I’ve decided I’ll just order enough for the maximum number we might have and if that many can’t be here, we’ll share out what we’ve got and they can cook it themselves at home!
Look at me getting organised and it’s not even December yet :laughing:
After all that planning, I’m going to spend the afternoon on the sofa catching up with TV programmes I’ve recorded this week but not had time to watch.

We were going to go out for a big walk this morning as it was a decent day, but the dog threw up just before we were about to get ready. He's not really a 'sicky' kind of dog, so I thought I had better stay around in case he got ill again.
Mindee has just suddenly got into role play and so we set up a cooking area and he has played so brilliantly, making me endless plates of food which I have to enthusiastically gobble up. I don't have an indoor toy cooker - we have always just made do with a table/cardboard box (didn't really have room for a permanent one in my old flat). I do have an outdoor one. I once bought a cardboard oven, which I thought was pretty good, but my mindees at the time turned it into a stable because of the door. Eventually it broke because they were climbing in and out of it pretending to be horses, lol. Do you all have a toy cooker/oven indoors?

WOW! Mouse .... you are getting organised !!! My brother wants some type of HUGE cooking knife ... I'm not happy with ordering it and not knowing when/where it is delivered etc, so he is getting a voucher for the company to buy it himself ! I've got most of the bits for the rest of my family ... just waiting to hear whether or not we'll be able to meet up ( if we drive south to see people around Christmas, it always becomes a 3 ring circus, and i'm not overly comfortable about doing that this year! so either i'll do a mad dash before Christmas ( although DD and little cousin are desperate to meet up ) or everything will go in the post!
We were going to play outside/go for a walk today, but somehow never quite managed it! been busy playing in the watertray (16 mth old, STILL obsessed with basin in downstairs toilet!) and reading endless stories. It is a lovely bright day, although freezing cold!
I don't have an inside kitchen ... I have a plastic box with lots of wooden food/plates/cups etc. I do have a smallish cardboard box that I drew 2 'hob rings' on the top, and they can open the 'doors' (AKA the top of the box, but it is on it's side!) It was a temporary toy to see how much it was played with ... about 5 yrs ago !!!! It isn't out all the time, but i get it out when requested or i think it will further play. ( At my last inspection, the Ofsted inspector used it to lean on when she was using her laptop :laughing: ). I have seen fabric covers than you can get to go over chairs or tables to make them into kitchens, which i like the idea of, but whilst the cardboard box does the job ... I'm happy to go with that!

Afternoon everyone ! tis morning started off so bright and sunny but now quite grey with showers.
Mouse I ordered our Christmas food a few weeks back not knowing who would be here so it was a bit tricky plus my eldest is vegetarian so wanted to get something nice for him too so have tried to cover all scenarios.
Maza we have a little wooden play kitchen that is one of my most played with resources, it is actually in need of replacing as one of the doors has broken so have taken it off plus all the paintwork is coming away at the edges now due to the excessive cleaning, normally it would be cleaned down regularly but due to Covid its getting cleaned a lot more and I don't think some of the cleaning products are any good for wooden things.
Hope your little dog is ok too we had to get up in the night to ours as he was crying, DH said he ran outside to go to the toilet he had a bit of an upset stomach. The trouble with our pup is that he seems to be really fussy with his food and doesn't eat a lot he stopped eating what he was fed on at the breeders so we have slowly introduced a different brand of dry food which he will eat but he seems to be happiest with meat rather than dry food. Our old dog would eat anything.

Oh no pixie, hope your dog is ok. Ours is a fusspot too with food. We had to get really strong and not give him any treats because he was just holding out for treats and leaving his real food, or he would only eat it when mixed with something yummy, like yogurt, cheese, bread, egg etc. All of these things started out as occasional treats too but completely ruined him. We had a stand off - he lost weight - and then he gave in and has been really good ever since. Don't want to jinx it.

How funny as ours would only eat his if it had yoghurt or grated cheese mixed in but then some days he would still leave it but he seems better with a mixture of meat and dry so fingers crossed he keeps eating this as before we have found he will eat something for a few days then get bored.

Yes I have a wooden indoor kitchen and an outdoor kitchen. I don’t leave the indoor one permanently in the playroom as the little ones tend to scatter all the food pots etc ( as well as books, etc etc) so I bring it down now and again. They play better with the outdoor kitchen.
