My 20 month old mindee will sometimes hold a spoon when eating, but doesn't use it yet, which is fair enough at his age. He still uses his fingers - he has been given mostly finger food but is starting to move away from that. He ate his rice with his fingers last week and did a decent job!
What foods are good for encouraging spoon use? Porridge? Custard?
I'm going to plan some scooping activities for messy play next week and I always model using my utensils because I eat with him. I'll try some role play too with the teddies, but I don't really think he'll be interested in that.
