Evening all,

Is any paperwork required with regards to an older child in my setting with a possible peanut allergy? Child has no reactions to foods containing traces of nuts but comes out in a slight rash when eating wholenuts. I dont have wholenuts in my house just incase and I provide snacks only but don't know if I need to do any more?

Thankyou

I'd ask parents to get diagnosis via GP as a mild allergy can become a severe allergy without warning, and it is better to know what you are dealing with (which type of nuts for example). Otherwise, I'd just note on child record/health form. If any children bring food in then make sure all families know it is no-nuts at your house.

Brilliant advice from Moggy.

You definitely need lots of info from parents. Also, think about how you will ensure he is safe if you take him out of your setting, for example, to a local Christmas party etc. x
