Fees

Have you had to put your fees up to stay afloat? How often do you put fees up? I'm wondering whether to do a big fee hike for maybe new parents. I don't know what parents will pay/expect to pay etc these days. £5 used to be the going rate round here, any less and you were very good value, £5 and you were very good. Never saw above £5 though. And then of course some charge by the day/insist on minimum hours, some charge by the hour...

Not really any help because not minding at the moment - but I am finding there is less transparency with childminding fees these days. Most childminders put 'contact childminder to discuss fees' instead of stating their hourly/daily rate in their ad. I understand why they do, but it is more difficult to get a feel for what the going rate is.
