When I did my pre reg course I was planning on registering on all registers. So my question was not relevant at the time.

Since then I have decided I only want to offer before and after school care, plus holidays. I know I need to register on the compulsory part, but if I wanted to look after children who attend school full time, i.e. Reception age, do I have to register on the EYFS?

I've read that if they attend school full time, for numbers they can be classed as over 5, but it's not clear if I would still need to register on the EYFS register?

I help appreciated😀

4 year olds in Reception Year at school are following the EYFS up to the end of Reception year (August following their 5th birthday) so they are EYFS children and therefore require an EYFS registration, I believe. It is only for ratios (because they are out at school 6 hours a day 5 days a week) that they count differently. I think you'd need this confirmed in writing though as it is not something that I have needed to clarify, maybe Sarah can direct you to a relevant document.

ETA: the childcare register refers to 5-8 year old, so that is clear I guess.

Early Years Register (EYFS) covers children up to the end of reception class at school ...

Childcare Register covers you for children age 5 (start of year 1) to 8.

Both are detailed here - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/551134/EY_and_childcare_reg_handbook.pdf

Annex C covers the Childcare Register :)

Thank you, it as I thought. The not having to include in under five numbers confused me, doesn't take much😂
