The statutory policies and procedures which must be in writing to comply with your registration on the Childcare Register are safeguarding / child protection and complaints.

You will find the Childcare Register requirements here (Annex C – CR2.1 and CR7.1) - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/551134/EY_and_childcare_reg_handbook.pdf.

I wouldn’t work without a few other written policies including fees, medication administration and behaviour – you will find more general advice here - http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/forum/paperwork-policies-procedures-permissions-forms-contracts-booklets/129975-required-policies-procedures-updated-12-2014-a.html.

Safeguarding and child protection policy & procedures – ideas for contents (updated 05.2015) on the Independent Childminders Facebook group here –
https://www.facebook.com/groups/independentchildminders/959765447378196/.

There is updated information for your safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures from the revised (09.16) ‘Inspecting Safeguarding in early years’ handbook here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/independentchildminders/1257248724296532/.

You will find a copy of the handbook here - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/547327/Inspecting_safeguarding_in_early_years_education_a nd_skills_settings.pdf.

Note that the policy we used to call safeguarding is now being referred to as child protection in statutory handbooks from DfE – I am keeping both in my title as I believe both are relevant so mine is called ‘Safeguarding and child protection policy & procedures’.

You can find a complaints policy and procedures writing guide and a sample complaint record form here -
Sarahs complaints form (http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/freeresources/Free%20downloads/complaintsformsarah.html).

Hth :D
