Hi, I am fairly new to childminding and have started out with a term time only family which is now coming to an end. I am now considering taking on work during holidays and wondering what is the norm for charging for your own holidays and theirs? Also, when taking on kids as adhoc is it necessary to sign a contract or is it enough to complete child record forms etc?

The 'norm' varies across the country - what's normal in one area is different in another.

A contract is a 'must' for insurance - there's a much longer answer than that but basically... yes you need one :D

I charge my normal hourly rates for ad-hoc business and do a contract stating its ad-hoc.
