Sad start to the weekend

We came home earlier and found a fox cub had got itself tangled up in the goal net in the garden and died. Poor little thing had obviously struggled.

We've now taken the netting off the goal as I'm sure there must be other cubs about. We've seen the mum in the garden the last couple of days, eyeing up the rabbits no doubt, so I guess this little one got a bit curious and decided to follow her.

Gosh, I bet that was a shock for you. Yesterday we found a tiny dead bird in our garden which must have fallen from its nest in the storm he night before. It looked like it had just hatched - so small but perfectly formed.
