I had the call today!!! I too will be having a no children on role inspection very soon. I asked the lady who phoned (tribal) and she said they will check that all my certificates are still valid - first aid, safe guarding, insurance. She said they will check to see that I haven't sold all of my toys and equipment, so basically, if someone phoned up and requested childcare the next day, then I would still be good to go. I guess they will still ask us loads of questions on safeguarding and all the usual stuff. Good luck! Keep me posted and I'll keep you posted. x

The procedures for 'no children on roll' inspections is detailed in the new Early Years Inspection handbook - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-inspection-handbook-from-september-2015.

I hope it goes well :)

Good luck both of you
Please bear in mind that an inspection with 'no children on roll' has no grade...just a simple MET/NOT MET judgement which will remain until next inspection.
All docs will be looked through as per compliance to EYFS...and yes F/Aid and Safeguarding must be up to date.

Let us know how you get on!

Yes that's Aubree in my photo, she's 3 on Monday!!!!!
Dunno where the times gone!

My inspector said if we get a met our previous grade still stands if it's not met we get reinspected

Uh...that is news to me
Your previous grade remains on record and online but I would check with Ofsted itself if this inspector is correct
Please let us know what the inspectorate says.

Oh my! What a big girl now :-)

That's very interesting re previous grade if no children on role.

I have contacted Ofsted to clarify if the previous grade is retained after an inspection with no children on roll.

This is their reply to my question: Can you clarify if a 'Met/Not met judgement for no children on roll inspection means providers keep previous grade?

Answer: If there are no children on roll, the latest report will give judgement a met/Not met. Previous grade isn' t retained.

If outsourced inspectors are saying otherwise please report this to them

Good luck...I am sure it will go well
Make sure you have the guidance on inspection without children on roll by your side and the inspector follows it to the letter.

I remain puzzled by these inspections...although understand why they have to take place to ensure we can remain registered...but the no grade is of concern to me...and many others... and I will sure flag it up

So good to hear that Ofsted can show flexibility when it wants to regarding these sorts of inspections.

Hope it will soon be all over for you!!

I'm glad it went well for you. Do you mind me asking if she wanted to see stuff from old mindees/planning etc? My no children on roll inspection is due any day and I'm wondering whether to ask old families for profiles back just for the inspection - or does she just question you about how you teach and plan? I have kept copies of the two year assessments and starting points.

Is it more awkward having no little ones? I can't imagine having to sit with an inspector for that long without any background noise! x

Hebs

It was much easier not having the kids around and more like a chat, all very relaxed and she asks you questions about your setting,
I didn't have any old mindees learning journeys so I did a mock file but she wasn't really bother about looking at it.

She checked I had all my certificates, valid first aid, what training id done since my last inspection that's it x

Oh and I had the TV on very low lol I won't sit in total silence.
We also had 2 cup of teas during it..... Perks of no kids around lol
