The ofsted application requests me to specify how many children I would like to apply to look after. If I have my own child (under 1 years of age) do I need to say I am applying to look after 5 (children that are not mine) or 6 (5 children plus my own)?

I would put the max number. The fact that one of the place will be taken by your own child is not relevant (and will change when you child starts school).

I agree put max number down you can have no matter if your children take up a space, you will then have that space when yours are at school.
