I'm so restless now. My first grandchild was due on tuesday. On friday she had a show and discharge and had contractions since yesterday afternoon. They get up to about 7 mins apart then slow down. Really feeling for her now,it's less worrying having it yourself than watching your own child going through it.

Still not here. She went to hospital at 10 last night having contractions every 5 mins and the gave her pain relief and sent her home:panic::panic::panic: Only 2cm dilated. They said she shld be good to come back this morning and he may be here this afternoon. Ive got mindees here today but have plans in place so I can go and visit when he decides to put in an appearance. Thanks for the support everyone. Ill update when I know anything

Enjoy your first cuddles and take lots of photos they grow up so quickly - doesn't seem 5 mins ago that I was posting similar to you, but my first grandson will be 2 at end of February. Looking forward to my next one, eldest daughter is just 13 weeks - it's going to be a long time to wait until June.

Hope your daughter managed to get some sleep last night or she is going to be exhausted.

No movement on the baby front. Contractions have now stopped and shes been asleep all afternoon. This baby clearly does not realise it's nearly Christmas

Hope he hurrys up as my birthday is just after Christmas and I have always hated it being so close, it's a mindees birthday tomorrow (not too bad his family are taking day off and taking him to see Santa) and another mindees one next Tuesday, the lo next week will be spending most of his birthday in a car travelling up to be with family for Christmas - don't know why they can't go the next day as they did this last year on his birthday too. (He should have been born on the 12th but was 10 days late).

No baby yet!! Billie had contractions all night and they stopped this morning. Hospital told her its all normal. Has a midwife app tomorrow, will prop have a sweep and be induced at the weekend if needed. Bless her she is now thinking, it's her fault and that he is trying so hard to be born and she is to blame. Oh I just want to help her so much but I can't do anything but try and assure her it's not her fault.

A grandson at last. 6.50am Joseph Matthew decided it was time to come and meet his family and has melted his nanny's heart with just one small photo. My darling daughter has been through hell for the last week to be told that her waters probably did break last weekend and that the little lad had pooed in there too. He had to be delivered by c section in the end after she was given an epidural and drugs. Can't visit yet as she's still in recovery but I'll be up there like a shot when I can. Thank you everyone for your kind words and support

Congratulations on your first grandson -:clapping: hope mum and baby soon recover from his difficult arrival, what a pity the hospital didn't monitor her better last week so she could have maybe been induced earlier. I just have to wait until about the 18th June for the arrival of my next grandchild, so in 6 months time it will me posting "grandchild overdue"!

Just come home from having lots of cuddles, He is adorable and I gave him his bottle,,,, 5mls!!!! I am totally besotted. Billie is great, sitting up in bed, been supporting all the other mums in the ward as she always does. I'm so proud of her.
Shes coming home on Saturday. Daddy is totally in love with his son, changing nappies like a pro already.One big happy family. I was also pleased that her dad made a special trip down from York where he lives to see them too. It meant alot to her, I know it did. Now I feel even more christmassy!!! Oh yes, I will be Nanny i think.

Daddy was exhausted and Billie was very emotional on Friday so he went home to sleep and I took the night shift with Billie and Baby. I left her to sleep and I cuddled Joe ALL NIGHT so he didn't wake her up (that was my excuse anyway). He is sleeping four hours between feeds and taking 25mls straight down and winding very easily. Came home yesterday evening. Billie had slightly high blood pressure and they gave her and ECG and frightened the life out of her. She's up and moving around much easier now and very very happy to be home.:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clap ping:
My Christmas celebrations are starting now and my DD2 has her 25th birthday on tuesday so it's celebrations all round in our house.
