Hi,

I'm just about to begin a risk assessment for my lounge. It will not be the main room for minding but it will be used. It has an open fire and I'm wondering how to risk assess it? Is it enough that it will not be lit? Do I need a specific guard? I already have the hearth edges covered with foam.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Just saying the fire will never be lit in child minding hours is enough. You only need to try to reduce risks that are there- if the risk is not there (ie: no fire) then nothing to do.
