I am currently working in education. I have been working as a higher level teaching assistant for almost five years and I'm looking for a change of scene and by chance I happened to come across a friend who was really struggling to find somebody to look after their children.
I would be taking care of the 2 kids (3 and 6) some evenings, some school days. (staying at her house when I do so) Taking them to nursery/school etc. I currently have no qualifications. apart from I work in a school so I should have a CRB (But i'm not even sure if that will count as i'll be working in Somerset and my school was in Devon)
basically I want to know what qualifications I need in order to act as a nanny for this lady and do so in a way that she can still pay me using her tax credits etc. She's under the impression I'll need to be on the Early Years register, but is that just for child-minders? I know I can do this job and do it well and what's more so does Laura. But I don't want to miss the opportunity and have trawled the internet I'm so bogged down in all the different variables I don't know what i'm doing! So can anyone help? Do I need to register in order that she can use me? If so how long does it take and what does it involve?
Cheers,
Lee-James.
