why wont???

Hi there,
can any tell me why my printer(cannon hero 5.1) wont read my pictures from my I phone?

I plug the phone into the printer buut it just says reading but fails to show me pictures - this has been happening on and off for a while but have not been able to print pictures for at least a week now
and need to catch up on profile books!!!
