If a parent only wants childcare from 1pm till 4pm once a week then would you charge this at an afternoon session rate or would you just charge per hour? Per hour works out less for me as it would be £15 whereas session rate would be £25, but as the parent may use me for 3 hours on the other days aswell ( from 3pm till 6pm) then i was just going to charge after school rate for that. (Child is only 2 but its to do with the mums working hours) i don't want to seem greedy by charging more for the 1pm till 4 but at the same time child is taking up an afternoon place even if it is only till 4pm.

Just a thought, could you set a weekly rate?

This may work as then it doesn't look like your charging different rates just a weekly fee for all the hrs she requires over a week :-)

But then what if she wants 9 hours one week. I would charge a session rate and you can always say as it's not regular and you can't garentie the space you will charge the odd hours at a discounted rate

hi I have a 6 hour a day min policy if they want less than this they still have to pay for the six hours all of which I advise when interviewing and again at signing contracts x
