I'm 1/2 there with registering ect but now just wondering am I best now not to buy anything or sign for any courses until 6/4 to start complete from new financial year?

Any costs you incur before you start minding will just go into your set up costs so it doesn't matter. When you have a mindee ready to start then you should inform HMRC you are intending to be a self employed business (register for tax and NI), costs before that are lumped together as set up costs
