Hi,
I have a new starter in January who will be coming different days and hours each week. Week one will be 19 hours over 3 days and week two will be 14 hours over 3 days. I'm not sure how to write it up on the contract as I've never done it like this before.
Should I charge minimum hours eg 16 per week and the rest as add ons?
Any ideas please?
xx

No standard answer on this one - personally up to you how you wish to charge and how the parents will agree to pay....

Is it over 5 days? Or just over the same 3 days but a different amount of hours each week?

Shift workers are fine BUT you have to work out how much you are possibly loosing out on by being flexible

you can always do an addendum and list the hours for week 1 and week 2 but all parties to sign that too.

It's over 3 days for 2 weeks then the other 2 weeks its over 2 days

so..on weeks 3 and 4 you have a day that they wont need.this is also a day that you cant give to someone else as its needed on week 1 and 2 .so..what i would do is charge half rates for day 3 on the weeks it isnt used and charge the other days at normal rates. So on the contract you could put half rates payable for any days retained

weeks 3 and 4 mum isn't at work but has said she still wants me to have the little one just 2 days so he gets into a routine, she wants 16 hours over 2 days. So should I charge a minimum of 16 hours on all the weeks then what extra hours she needs week 1 and 2 she can just pay extra?

that depends on if youre happy having that 3rd day unused and unavailable to contract out to anyone else(unless you have adhoc who could fill them)

If you use a Pacey Contract then there is a space to add odd hours required.
