hi

I started minding in July 2013.; do I need to put a tax return in for January?

if not when do I need to do it?

Are you registered self employed yet?

From my experience, I would say no you don't have to pay until jan 2015, however, the inland revenue are a powerful force, so double check!

I was registered self employed may 2012, and I am due to pay my first tax bill next jan, (2014). If you are due to pay next year, you have already missed the deadline for your self-assessment form, so it's worth giving them a call any way. As said, try not to worry to much, my guess is you don't have to pay until jan 2015 xx

No you are currently in the tax year from 2013/2014 and so you tax return can be lodged from 5th July 2014. If you have registered as self employed you will get a letter to tell you.

Thanks chatterbox, as I read OP I was thinking 'oh my god I thought they notified is when we need to do a return' and panicked that I might have missed something!

Your start date is showing above right at Oct 2012 and if this is the case you should have completed a return this year from April 2012 to March 2013. this can be done online by 31st Jan 2014 or a penalty of £100 will be levied
