Hello everyone, this is my first post (or question!!) on the forum, but i have been reading all the helpful info on here. It is absolutely brilliant for a novice like me, so thanks to everyone.

Anyway, my question is - I have a pre reg inspection coming up in a couple of weeks, do i have to know all the sections of Development matters? I know the inspectors question you about activities planned for each age group according to the 7 areas of L&D, however, do i have to know the Aspects of each and minor details off the top of my head?
Also, has anyone been questioned on the Characteristics of effective learning?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ritzy and welcome :waving:
Development matters is more for guidance and I believe Ofsted are only interested in the unique child part of it now.
The 7 areas of development is what you need to know about and will be questioned on :)

You need to know what the areas of learning are about and how to support children's learning using them ... you need to understand the importance of being able to clue into how each child learns (their learning characteristics) ... you also need to be sure you can do everything that is legally required of you - so read through the Eyfs and ask if there are any sections that don't make sense.

Good luck :D
