I'm a huge fan of the olympics, I get really into the games and like to watch as much as possible.

I'll have mindees here this year so as my excuse for having the olympics on in the background on the telly I've decided that our theme for the summer will be China and the Olympics (good plan hey! :D )

Our first activity will be to create the 5 rings using collage method then link them together in a wall display. I thought we'd start this while I'm having my inspection on Monday.

I want to have a list/plan of activites to show the inspector on Monday. Think I need to put more on it than just making a collage and watching a tiny bit of Olympics on the telly!

I thought we could have a mini Olympics day at the park.
I'm sure I'll be able to find some colouring sheets of sports.

What other activities do you think I can add, I'm not very good at thinking of things.

Oh the children are aged, 9, 8, 7 (x2), 6, 4 (x2) and nearly 2.

There's a great section on the Olympics at www.activityvillage.co.uk including history and all about China - great starting point.

There was also a feature in Creative Steps magazine with ideas for games to play with the children, making an Olympic torch etc

Why not try and get your older children to think of some ideas - like planning a decathlon (with their own games) - they could write it down ready to show the inspector

Good luck

Some great sites there. We are having this theme too, and we are having a childminder olympics (bout 6 of us) in the local woods. You could make medals out of cds and ribbons.
