Some thoughts to try and untangle the muddle that has been created recently by the introduction of this new document.

I hope you find it useful :D

Thanks Sarah - looking at the changes is on my to do list so great that you have said which pages they are on!

Thanks also for the reminder to pass the details onto parents, I might have overlooked that.

Both documents are non-statutory and can be used as guidance...DM being very good because of the Enabling Environments and Positive Relationships

I have both of them but do not find it confusing...what do cms find worrying?
my LA suggested we all print the new Outcomes and that is what we should do

My interpretations is that Ofsted have shifted the emphasis from paperwork as evidence to Leadership and Management with a lot of stress on Outcomes....which covers our teaching styles and that is the reason why during an inspection the inspector and cm will observe an activity and the cm will be asked what the aim was, why she chose it and where has it taken the child's learning.

To do that it is worth looking at children's learning styles: visual, auditory and kinestetic
How do we allow children to learn in their preferred style

Understanding Your Child's Learning Style (http://www.webmd.com/parenting/features/childs-learning-style)

For the learning to be effective the teaching has to be too...and we all have different teaching styles...so the trick is to tune to children

What is Your Teaching Style? (http://www.biz.colostate.edu/mti/tips/pages/WhatisYourTeachingStyle.aspx)

I hope others will share their concerns over the new Outcomes...sorry I have not seen any discussions where concerns have been raised but would be good to discuss
Personally I like the shift from paperwork to good teaching practice.

Yes I can see your point...I wonder if we could show parents the new Outcomes alongside the DM when we discuss and agree the next steps?

Why it is all too much for most parents and is not a help.

How many parents do you have Simona to who this would be relevant.

This may confirm the emphasis on Outcomes and teaching

Yes absolutely right! I am working through the new evaluation schedule at the moment and the first section is all about teaching and providing evidence of children making good progress.

It's nothing new though we do it already - we just need to beef up our evidence in some areas I think :D

Good luck...looks like 'teaching' is well emphasised on pp 7-8 as is CPD and its impact on 'teaching' (p14)
Not too bad at first reading but will go back to it again ...a couple of obscure statements here and there about CMs
I can think of a few new training sessions coming on in future!!!
