Here are the new documents for the inspection framework from 4th November 2013 but childminders aren't included in this at the moment

Ofsted | Evaluation schedule for inspections of registered early years provision (http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/evaluation-schedule-for-inspections-of-registered-early-years-provision)

Ofsted | Conducting early years inspections (http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/conducting-early-years-inspections)

I have read this document when it came out yesterday and if you look at Introduction section 2 (p 4) it says 'it includes cms'
There is also very clear definition (p 5)about cms receiving a call previous to their inspection 'no more than 5 days before' to check which days we operate...so that has finally been confirmed..
No children on roll means a reschedule unless there are reason for not doing so

Also look at how an inspector has to be identified by her passbook (p 7) and can be made to wait if a provider wants to make a call for confirmation

There is much more but so far it confirms what Ofsted had said in their email that cms must get that call unless it is a 'complaint triggered' inspection

This document is also attached to the ones posted below
Ofsted | Inspection guidance for inspecting provision on the Early Years Register following the risk assessment process (http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/inspection-guidance-for-inspecting-provision-early-years-register-following-risk-assessment-process)

Has anyone read the new framework and understood how to:
prepare for an inspection?

the expectations of the inspector on our practice?

what happens during a 'complaint triggered' inspection?

how to have the complaint explained to you by the inspector?

what happens if the inspector does not uphold the complain?

It has always been the case that you can keep the Inspector waiting and outside while you check identity even if this means phoning Ofsted.

It certainly was the case before
The reason for reinforcing it is to reassure cms, who may feel less confident at taking such action, that it is acceptable...in the instance of an unannounced inspection many may freeze and unable to think straight.

I hope it will be of help to many.
