Do I need to be registered to mind age 8 and up?

Hi all, I have been waiting since May for my registration visit and ofsted say it is social services that are holding everything up. I really need to start earning and I am sure I read somewhere that I dont need to be registered to care for children over 8. Does anyone know if this is true? I am thinking about providing before and after school care and holiday care whilst I wait

The fact sheet say I dont need to be registered. Do you think I should ask ofsted anyway just in case it will affect my registration?
