Hello All,

I am thinking of going into childminding and wanted to find out what other courses, certificates, qualifications one must or one can get in this was the chosen career path to add value to a child?

I would appreciate all the help I could get so i can make a decision about my career path.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

In my area we need basic food hygiene and safeguarding qualification but that's not the same everywhere.

I'm just starting so would be interested to hear what other courses are mentioned.

First Aid, Child protection, CYPO5 , Food and Hygiene are not qualifications....they are the basic training required for cms
For qualifications look at NVQ Level 2 and 3 ...then on to Degrees

EYFS 2012 is very clear on what is required...qualifications are different form statutory training such as First Aid and Child Protection!
