Hi I have took out an insurance policy with Morton Michel for public liability insurance, just wondering do I need home insurance even if I rent my house?

You mean home contents insurance- this covers your furniture/possessions/jewellery/valuables/elecrtonics. Don't you have that already?

You can just check the policy covers for child minding. It is not compulsory but if a mindee flushes your phone down the loo or puts marker pen on your white leather sofa you might wish you had it! But even with out CMing, if you have a house fire and lose all your things to smoke damage (imaging needing to replace the contents of your wardrobe, lounge etc etc!) it is worth having.
Often contents insurance covers things when you take them off your premises like bikes, laptops etc too but you need to look at policy details to check.

If you are renting the landlord should have home building insurance covered for you (do check!) that covers if the roof blows off, floods etc etc.
