I am sure the schools inspectors are more or less singing from the same hymn sheet unlike the early years. They have to remember that we aren't nurseries and neither should our HOMES look like one. We are different and that's why parents have chosen us to care for their children. Surely they should not be knocking our confidence and make us fearful of the call or knock on the door, as long as the children are progressing and well cared for, isn't that enough. I am sure the majority of us have children who are doing fine in school or as adults, so we have managed to bring up those children, so why not others

It is good to see that the industry recognises our concerns!

I am encouraging everyone to write to Ofsted and try to open up a dialogue with them. We need support and help - not constant bashing we are getting at the moment. The sooner they realise we want an alternative to agencies the better!!

Certainly write to Ofsted but be careful about what you may get as a reply:
the agencies are a govt policy...Ofsted will say we follow and shape them ..although Ofsted is very supportive of them!!!

The IPPR report questions the inspection judgement and the fact Ofsted will become the 'sole arbitrer' of quality and questions how they judge and score saying there are better methods and LAs support is necessary...this report is very helpful and also helps those worried about inspections who are mounting a positive campaign of interaction with Ofsted.

So if you write make sure you separate the agency issue from the inspection worry but raise your concerns about them both...agencies concerns must also be addressed to the DfE or any letter to Ofsted will be discounted
