In line with re-vised EYFS I updated all my paperwork and took the opportunity to do planning and assessments differently. I don't feel that it's working as well as it could and I'm having a major re-think about how I do EVERYTHING and what paperwork to use.

I have a brilliant progress tracker (thanks to jadavi on here) which was exactly what I was looking for. But I'm still working on all other paperwork, individual planning, and summary assessments. I currently do the assessments Easter, Christmas & Summer hols. So would welcome any suggestions or examples anyone is willing to share. I'm really trying to cut down on the time spent on paperwork so happy to consider other ways of doing things.

Our LA prefers us to use their own learning diaries which I hate if I'm honest, because it separates all the areas of L&D and so many observations link to several areas. Due to cuts they won't be providing these free anymore so I'm going to do my own from September. But not sure where to start. I want to make sure it's something the children can take ownership of (more scrapbook style perhaps), I know we need to link to EYFS but I'm not keen and adding loads of info to each observation/photo to do this.

Do you all add individual planning to the learning journey? I have assessments and tracker at the back of the folder but want the planning/observations/photos together without confusing parents with 'EYFS jargon' they don't understand. Looking for a simple way of doing things that parents can easily understand and also evidences what I need.

Would really appreciate any help/advice xx

Please could anyone share how they do their planning & assessments.....

I'm really looking for new ways of doing mine, I feel like I'm repeating lots and want to cut down on paperwork, make it less time consuming especially!

Currently I do monthly planning (play plan), termly assessments with next steps and progress tracker with best fit age bands. Wondering if the termly assessments are necessary if planning is always updating next steps and observations show development?? Or whether to continue with these to link with tracker and take off the next steps which are a repeat anyway.

How do you do yours???

If anyone is happy to share individual planning sheets I would be very grateful, I just can't seem to find one that works for me.

Thanks
